JavaScript is one of the most popular coding languages there is right now. JavaScript was created by Brendan Eich in 1995. During this time Eich had made Netscape Navigator and it was the leading web browser during its time with a couple of other web browsers trying to compete to the top. One of the biggest competitors that Netscape had was Microsoft, so Netscape decided to collaborate and join with Sun Microsystems and to include Java on all its platforms. Things didn’t turn out as planned and they ended up creating a script language that acted as a glue language for HTML. It was easy to use by Web-designers and programmers, where the code could be written directly into the Web page markup. The programming language was officially called Live Script, but it was renamed JavaScript when it was deployed in December 1995. The war between Netscape Navigator and Microsoft lasted for a very long time.

Things went downhill for Netscape when Microsoft started shipping free IE, and also when Internet explorer was placed together with every copy of Windows. At this point Netscape couldn’t keep up had to be sold. JavaScript was saved by EMCA International. Micrsoft wanted to make something similar to JavaScript and they called it JScript. Later on, Yahoo, Microsoft, Google and some others got together to form their own subcommittee to design a less ambitious update of ECMAScript also known as JavaScript.

JavaScript Is the most commonly used language in several years, as it is used for some of the largest websites as of today. JavaScript has become the standard programming language of the web because of its first-mover advantage, but also because it is open, standardized, and is a very well-made language with its dynamic nature and integration with the DOM. The history of JavaScript was one of a kind and this program will bring greater things to the web’s future.
